Who We Are

For 50 years, since 1976, HdlF Foundation (HdlFF) has stood alongside Hospital de la Familia (HdlF)—a locally led nonprofit hospital in Nuevo Progreso, San Marcos, Guatemala—to strengthen rural healthcare.

HdlF Foundation organizes visiting surgical teams and volunteers to support the care led by local providers. Through shared expertise, knowledge, and resources, HdlF Foundation helps amplify the life-changing work already happening on the ground, honoring that real change grows where it’s rooted.

How We Support

As the heart of healthcare in the region, HdlF staff provide ongoing vital inpatient and outpatient care.
They are joined by our visiting medical teams to collaborate on specialized clinical and surgical services.
Together, we build a respectful learning partnership, transforming lives while ensuring no one is ever turned away.

General Medical Care

Guatemalan medical and non-medical staff lead HdlF’s Regional Medical Center with determination and compassion. In partnership with our visiting medical teams, both provide general specialized medical clinical and surgical care to nearly 20,000 patients annually.

Vision Care & Restoration

Alongside HdlF’s La Familia Eye Center (LFEC), we are committed to preventing and reversing vision loss through high-quality, locally driven care. We offer an environment of continuous learning and innovation through advanced training and fellowships.

Maternal & Child Health (MCH)

Led by the Child Nutrition Center at HdlF, local professionals and our Maternal & Child Health (MCH) teams work together towards the prevention and treatment of chronically malnourished and diseased children all while advancing maternal care.

Family Health & Stability

Through programs that center education, skills development, and community, we help strengthen the ability of families to achieve health and stability. Some of these programs include a Nursing Assistant School, a Sewing School, and a Soccer Clinic.
